The Industry Association is seeking an accomplished Chairman Emeritus to provide senior-level counsel, institutional perspective, and strategic guidance to the Board of Directors and executive leadership. This is a prestigious, non-operational leadership role designed for a highly respected former Chairman, CEO, President, Executive Director, or senior industry leader with a demonstrated record of advancing an industry, strengthening institutional governance, and building relationships across corporate, governmental, regulatory, and professional communities. The Chairman Emeritus will serve as a trusted senior advisor and ambassador, helping preserve institutional knowledge while supporting the Association's long-term strategic direction and influence.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide independent strategic counsel to the Board Chair, Board of Directors, and senior leadership
• Advise on major industry developments, emerging risks, regulatory matters, and long-term strategic opportunities
• Support the Association in maintaining relationships with industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, investors, and key stakeholders
• Represent the Association at select conferences, executive forums, policy discussions, and industry events
• Serve as a senior ambassador for the Association and its mission when appropriate
• Provide historical and institutional perspective on significant strategic decisions
• Mentor and advise current and emerging association leaders
• Support succession planning and leadership development at the Board and executive levels
• Help strengthen relationships among member organizations and promote collaboration across the industry
• Offer guidance on governance, organizational effectiveness, and Board-level priorities
• Participate selectively in strategic initiatives, special committees, task forces, or advisory councils
• Help identify emerging trends and opportunities that may affect the Association and its members
• Support the Association's reputation, credibility, and influence within the broader industry ecosystem
• Facilitate introductions and relationships that can advance the Association's strategic objectives
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a highly accomplished and respected industry executive with substantial experience in leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
• 15+ years of senior leadership experience within the relevant industry or closely related sector
• Demonstrated experience serving on corporate, nonprofit, or industry association boards
• Previous Chairman, CEO, President, Executive Director, or comparable executive-level experience preferred
• Strong understanding of industry economics, trends, regulation, and competitive dynamics
• Demonstrated success engaging with senior executives, government officials, regulators, and institutional stakeholders
• Strong record of organizational leadership and governance
• Exceptional communication, diplomacy, and relationship-building abilities
• Established credibility and reputation within the industry
• Ability to operate effectively as a senior advisor without assuming day-to-day executive authority

Role Expectations
The Chairman Emeritus is not expected to manage the Association's daily operations. The position is intended to complement the work of the current Chair, Board, and executive leadership. The successful candidate will contribute through strategic counsel, Board-level advisory support, industry representation, executive mentorship, institutional knowledge, stakeholder relationships, thought leadership, and special strategic initiatives. The level of involvement may vary depending on the Association's priorities and the Chairman Emeritus's availability.
