GovDash helps businesses win and deliver government contracts that advance American interests. Our AI platform is a single, secure, workflow-driven system for the full contracting lifecycle, from opportunity discovery and capture through proposal execution, award, and post-award operations. In 2025 alone, GovDash customers won more than $5B in government contracts and we've raised $42M to move faster on product and scale GovDash nationwide.

About the Role
This is a full-stack product engineering role where you own features end-to-end across frontend and backend systems. You'll work directly with customers to understand their problems, ship code frequently, and set technical direction within your product area. Our engineering team operates without product managers; technical leads work directly with customers and have significant autonomy in shaping and delivering solutions

What You'll Own
  • Design, build, and ship full-stack product features end-to-end across frontend and backend systems
  • Engage directly with customers to understand their problems and incorporate feedback into product improvements
  • Set technical direction and patterns within your product area
  • Build intuitive interfaces and APIs that help users understand and trust AI-powered workflows
  • Improve system reliability, performance, and scalability as the platform grows

Must-Have

  • Strong full-stack proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js (TypeScript is non-negotiable; the two-day live work trial is built entirely in it, and Temporal is a plus)
  • Track record of autonomy: can take a fuzzy customer problem and scope it into a project without detailed guidance
  • 2+ years of professional engineering experience in startup or fast-paced environments (big tech tenure alone does not count)
  • Based in New York (required for in-person work and to interact with government contractors on East Coast time)

Nice-to-Have

  • Computer engineering background or formal study in computer engineering prior to programming; signals engineering rigor
  • Significant GitHub contribution history (1,500+ contributions per year or higher); demonstrates consistent shipping velocity
  • Ex-founder or founding engineer at a Seed, Series A, or Series B startup; shows ability to operate with autonomy and customer focus

Green Flags

  • Exceptional GitHub activity (3,000-5,000 contributions/year pre-2024)
  • Experience building AI-powered or LLM-enabled product features
  • Experience with government contracting or public-sector software
  • Experience with complex integrations and syncing with external systems
  • Founding engineer or early-stage startup background
  • Ex-athlete (especially D1 level)

Red Flags

  • 3+ years at a single large company (Charles Schwab, BNY Mellon, etc.) without startup experience
  • No TypeScript experience when coming through recruiter networks
  • Cannot articulate ownership of fuzzy problems or scope projects independently
  • Looking primarily for work-life balance or explicit work-hour boundaries
  • Only experience at recent-era Stripe, Ramp, or Databricks hires (joined 1-2 years ago)
  • Does not care about America and her interests
  • Former D1 athlete; demonstrates discipline, pain tolerance, and time-management in high-intensity environments
